Founded in 1871 by a group of men from Chicago and was originally called the Chicago-Colorado Colony. Memberships in the colony were sold and with the money, 60,000 acres was purchased and town was built. It was named Longmont because Longs Peak can be see from town. Longmont is 420 friendly to both Medical and Recreational marijuana dispensaries.
